The Women’s Sport Trust (WST) has appointed a new Trustee and three Board apprentices as we continue to add experience and expertise to our work.

As well as welcoming new faces, WST is also saying goodbye to one of its long-standing trustees, as Laura Weston, co-founder of See You At Jeanie’s, steps down after over seven years of service. WST CEO and co-founder Tammy Parlour said, “Laura has been a huge part of the Women’s Sport Trust story and we’re incredibly grateful for her time, passion and dedication. She has helped shape who we are, and we thank her immensely for everything she’s brought to the charity.”

Joining the Board of Trustees is Ali Donnelly, Director of Corporate Affairs at the RFU. Donnelly recently moved into rugby following senior communications and marketing roles across sport and government, including positions at Sport England, 10 Downing Street and HM Treasury. She was also CEO of the motorsport start-up More than Equal, which aims to support female drivers into the world of F1.

As part of a new board apprenticeship scheme, designed to broaden access to board-level experience and support the development of future leaders in sport, Alice Dearing, Shruti Saujani and Gemma Woor have also joined.

WST Board Apprentices

Chair of the Board of Trustees, Suzy Levy, said, “Our apprenticeship scheme is about investing in future talent. By opening up boardroom experience to a wider range of voices, we’re helping to shape a stronger, more inclusive future for sport.”

Dearing, a former British Olympic swimmer and founder of Black Girls Swim; Saujani, who works at the FA in an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion role; and Woor, a Business Director at agency MKTG, will each have a board mentor during the 18-month programme.

On changes to the board, Parlour said, “We have an ambitious vision that requires a wide range of skills, and I’m confident our current group has exactly that. Our new apprenticeship programme reflects our commitment to developing future leaders who will help drive lasting change in women’s sport.”
